Leviticus - Priestly Code
The “priestly code” of Leviticus was to transform the entire nation as well as each individual of Israel into a holy nation of which Yahuweh could dwell in. Your life and conduct must be holy.
Hebrews 9:1Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.
The purpose of the Law of Israel was not to condemn to death but to find legitimate reasons for acquitting the accused. Circumstantial evidence by itself was not sufficient to convict nor the confession of the accused. The act had to be witnessed by two eye witnesses. Even after conviction and sentencing the place of execution was away from the court “so that there might be a possibility for deliverance”. As the condemned man was led out of the courthouse on the way to the execution site, a man stood at the gate of the courthouse with a signal flag in his hand, and a mounted messenger was waiting within sight of this man. If one of the judges believed he had found new evidence in favor of the accused, the mounted man seeing the waving flag would race to stop the execution. Also the accused was accompanied by two legal experts who had to escort him to the site of execution. If there was additional evidence presented by the accused these two experts would return with the condemned man back for appeal as many as five times. The goal was to show mercy if at all possible. The first legal axiom in the Pentateuch Genesis 9:5,6; bases the unique personal dignity of human life on the concept of man created in the image of God. Who has endowed man, the noblest of His creatures on earth, with spirit from His Spirit thus personnel and precious in the sight of Yahuweh each life. We serve a free willed God with His Spirit of free will that dwells in man. Which answers the question in Psalm 8:4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? Yahushua sacrifice as our High priest was the ultimate and eternal precept of mercy.  Hebrews 9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?   Love which mercy is one attribute was expressed for that free willed spirit that was given to man long ago. I Corinthians 13:4-8a 4Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,  5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;  7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.8Charity never faileth:         Charity (love)
Hebrews 10:9-25 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. 10By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. 14For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. 15Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, 16This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith Yahuweh, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 17And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.  18Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
19Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Yahushua, 20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;  21And having an high priest over the house of God; 22Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
As in the Levitical priesthood priest were interceding in mercy for their fellows. Now Yahushua sits making intercession for us between the Father and satan. Under the New Covenant Yahushua has sent His Spirit to indwell the holy people. Romans 8:26-30 27And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. God is ever watchful over His people for His perfect will to be preformed in spite of our free will which often takes us off the path. Yet He is faithful to bring us back a right. Psalm 119:75 I know, O Yahuweh, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.
Halle lu YAH Thy faithfulness!
