Jacob/Israel
Genesis 32:24-30 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.  25And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. 26And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. 27And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. 28And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel “God prevails” (2b the name used and given to the northern kingdom consisting of the 10 tribes under Jeroboam; the southern kingdom was known as Judah 2c) the name of the nation after the return from exile) for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.  29And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. 30And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: (Penuel or Peniel = “facing God”) for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
How many of us wrestle with God, Even after you are born again? Has He given you a new name? Jacob the supplanter (to supplant, circumvent, take by the heel, follow at the heel, assail insidiously, overreach) becomes a prince with God and men. Have you? Are we following at the heel of Yahushua?
James 1:1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
Who is the book of James written to?
Ephesians 2:12-13 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: 13But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Are you part of the twelve tribes? Have you entered the covenants of promise?
Romans 9:4-5 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;  5Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
Without Christ, you were an alien to the commonwealth of Israel to whom this entire bible was written, all the promises were given to Israel. Are you part of the Israel of God? Are you a prince in the kingdom of heaven? Are you a co-inheritor with Yahushua?
Galatians 6:15-16 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. 16And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
Matthew 15:24 I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
